6 Ways To Keep Your Shoes Stink Free
Is there a foul smell that seems to be following you wherever you go? Sniff hard. It could be your own shoes that might be emitting that peculiar smell. Being on your feet all day long can result in stinky shoes because of the sweaty feet. Also, if you are using the same pair of shoes almost everyday, bacteria formed inside or improper airing can cause that smell. Lifehacker India has come up with 6 easy tips to get that stink off your shoes.
1. Wash Your Shoes
If your shoes are washable, you must wash them once in a while. That will give your shoes the proper cleaning, freshening and drying that they require to get rid off the stench.
2. Use Baking Soda
You can also use baking soda to get rid of the smell. Take 1 cup of baking soda and an equal amount of vinegar, and mix it well. Now fill each shoe with this and leave the solution on for 15 minutes. Rinse and wash, and your shoes will be absolutely stench-free.
3. Freeze Your Shoes
Unbelievable, but true! This is an amazingly effective way to chuck out that odd smell. Put your shoes in a polythene bag and leave them in the freezer overnight. By the time you take them out, the cold would have killed the bacteria and your shoes would be free of smell.
4. Put Deodorant On Your Feet
Before you put on your shoes in the morning, spray some deo on your feet. This will prevent any foul smell creeping out of your shoes and causing you embarrassment.
5. Sunning Your Shoes Helps
Keep your shoes outside where they can get some sunlight. Sunlight is extremely effective in killing bacteria that cause the foul smell. This is an easy way to make sure that you have shoes that smell good.
6. Rub Some Alcohol
No, we are not kidding. If your shoes are not washable, alcohol is the best option to keep them clean. Putt some alcohol on a cotton bud and rub that on the inside of your shoes. That will clean them up properly, just like washing would have done, and keep off the smell.
