Sometimes we want to buy something at a store but really don't want anyone-including the checkout clerk-to know we intend to use it. Redditor herrijt discovered a simple solution: ask for a gift receipt.

I'm a guy and bought a yoga mat last night. I was telling my coworkers that it was in the women's section and jokingly said I lost all masculinity when I was checking out.

My boss piped up and said when he bought the Twilight books and movies (for himself), he asked for a gift receipt. Seems like a great way to get away with those more embarrassing purchases...

While buying a woman's yoga mat (if there can be such a thing) seems like a silly reason to be embarrassed, we all make purchases we might prefer few people knew about. This trick won't work with classics like laxatives and tampons-unless you'd rather seem incredibly strange-but is certainly worth employing if you feel like picking up the Twilight series. Or you could just avoid that entirely.
