IFTTT is an app and web service that uses if-then statements to trigger certain actions or activities in your favorite apps and devices. If you're not familiar with IFTTT, definitely check out our beginner's guide to understand the basics . After you get a handle on it, read on for the IFTTT Recipe of The Week, our new series highlighting the most useful (or just cool) IFTTT recipes we can find (or create!).

This week's recipe is designed for music lovers who can't get that one song they heard a week ago out of their head. If you happen to subscribe to Spotify, you've no doubt listened to the Discover Weekly playlist, a selection of songs the service thinks you'll enjoy based on factors like your listening history as well as the history of users with similar tastes.

As the name suggests, the playlist presents you with a different selection of tunes every week. It's great for audiophiles who want to hear new tracks, but not as great if you want to revisit songs from the previous week's Discover Weekly playlist. Instead of racking your brain for that song you loved, or humming half-remembered singles into your phone, get IFTTT to be your musical archivist.

This IFTTT recipe will automatically add the 30 rotating tracks from your Discover Weekly playlist to your own personal playlist, saving up to 1500 of your most recently played tracks. That way you'll always have a record of the tunes you were listening to from any given week. Turning on the recipe will lead you to its configuration page, where you can choose your Discover Weekly playlist (or any playlist that regularly receives new tracks), and archive new additions to another playlist of your making.
