Find Out The Best Things On Your Train Journey With RailYatri’s New Crowd-Sourced ‘RailWisdom’

RailYatri, an online service to find out more information about your train and the guys who made the brilliant Rail Radar train-tracking map, have rolled out a new service called RailWisdom, in which they hope to draw upon crowd experiences to give you better information about your journey.

Click on any train station on a map of India and you will find "wisdom" shared by someone. You can filter this by the type of information you are looking for, such as food, transport, amenities, must-visit, access, be warned, and others. So you can find out where the best kachoris on your journey are well in advance!

Right now, there seems to be very little information on all the stations but that should change slowly. The downside, though, is that all the wisdom is arranged chronologically, so you are going to have to sift through all of it yourself -- the lack of an upvote/downvote system of any kind is going to mean you don't always get the best information.

The web app itself has quite a shoddy, old-school design, but all the functions seem to work well.

RailYatri will be rolling out apps, starting with Android in the next few weeks, which should be quite beneficial when you are actually on a journey.
