Return a Lost Phone with the IMEI Number

There are plenty of apps out there to help you find your lost phone , but what if you find someone else's, and want to return it?

If the phone doesn't have a passcode or pattern lock, you can just find a recently called number, and figure out pretty easily who the phone belongs to. If the phone is locked though, you aren't out of luck. All you have to do is find the IMEI number somewhere on the body of the phone. iPhones have it engraved on the back case or on the SIM tray, and Samsung usually hides it under the battery, but a quick Google search of the model should point you in the right direction if you can't find it. Once you have the number written down, just get in touch with customer support from the device's carrier, give them the number, and they can contact the owner and tell them where to find you. It isn't as easy as returning a lost driver's license , but the good karma is worth the minor hassle.
