How To Turn on Twitter's New Night Mode

When you're sitting in a dark conference room or cozy in your bed about to go to sleep, cracking open your laptop to look at Twitter can feel akin to looking directly into the sun. Sometimes the white background is great, other times, something a little darker would be a welcome change.

First debuted in its Android and iOS apps, Twitter finally started rolling out Dark Mode to the web this week, and I know the person sitting next to me on my next red-eye flight is pretty stoked about the development (I know I was when I read this post in TechCrunch ).

To activate the mode on the web, you just click on your avatar at the top right-hand side of the page and then select "Night Mode" from the bottom of the list that appears. When you're ready to take things back to normal, you turn the mode off by doing literally the exact same thing.

Since it is a "roll out" rather than a launch, there's a chance the feature might not be available to you just yet. If you don't see it, wait a day or two and give it a shot again.

The dark blue hue is actually a really pleasant way to view the site, and for me makes things a lot easier to read. I've been using it for a little while now, and I'm not sure I'll ever go back.
