Keep Your Coffee Warm by Priming Your Mug With Hot Water
A hot cup of coffee in the morning just hits the spot. When it cools down to room temperature, it's not the same. Keep your brew warm by priming your mug with hot water.
There's nothing like a hot cup of coffee or tea in the morning. Unless you like cold brew, of course. But if you're a fan of a hot cuppa, you can keep it warm a little longer by preheating the mug. The Art of Manliness suggests:
Especially in the winter, when outside-facing cupboards tend to get chilly, warming up your mug will not only keep your coffee warmer a bit longer, it will heat your fingers as well. It's as simple as sloshing some hot water in the mug (I often boil some extra water in the morning for this very purpose), or even just throwing it into the microwave for 20 seconds or so (empty of course - no microwaving your coffee!).
You can also fill your mug with piping hot water from the sink, and let it sit there as you wait for your coffee to brew. Redditor thagthebarbarian also suggests using this method with a Thermos. It's kind of like freezing a beer mug. It's obviously not going to stay at that temperature for hours, but it'll prolong it for a bit.
